( james ) in the east bay...police are investigating three freeway shootings that happened in three days...none of the shootings appear to be related... but police say they were targeted...( will ) kron4's michelle kingston has the story. believe this shooting was gang related -- but would not say why they believe this to be the case.on monday -- cal trans worked to replace the guard rail her car plowed into after being shot, according to investigators.officer john fransen, chp golden gate"we just ask that people remain vigilent."chp says just hours after destinee was shot in her car ...a 24 year old woman was shot in the leg on highway 580 near airway boulevard on sunday -- in what may have been sparked by road rage. officer john fransen, chp golden gate"in certain cases, where these incidences caused by road rage, we just ask people to slow down, drive safe and remain vigilent."and it doesn't stop there -- on monday morning, on 80 west -- just east of mcdonald avenue -- another driver discovered a bull hole in their car ... investigators say all three shootings were targeted ... but not related. no arrests have been made ... but chp hopes the shot spotter technology and cameras on highway 4 and on 80 will help them in their investigation. ( james ) happening today... the contra costa count board of supervisors will consider a proposal for automated license plate readers in the discovery bay area. a spokesperson for the contra costa county sheriff says the county wants to install 21 cameras along highway 4 and bixler road. police say suspects often flee to discovery bay because it is so close to highway 4. they are hoping that license plate readers can help police identify some of these suspects. ( will ) another big story we are following this morning... an oakland man is under arrest and accused of trafficking teenage girls for sex. malik malveaux was arrested in santa ana. he was arrested in a motel room with twoo teenage girls. they were 13 and 15 years old. a day earlier police also found a 16-year-old victim.

social services has reached out the the victims to provide them with the help they need. ( will ) police in vallejo are looking for the man who broke into a family's home, and snuck in the baby's room before making off with thousands of dollars worth of electronics. the vicitm's sister says the burglar broke into the home on cotta way sunday morning. the burglar is seen quickly sneaking into her nephew's room while the 1 year old is resting..his 4 year old sister and mom were also fast asleep at the time.. it appears the man came in through the back window after destroying the screen. she says the man targeted the home after her sister's husband left to go for a morning run. when he returned he noticed the surveillance cameras had been tampered with and things were missing.. books, headphones and an ipad.. the burglar apparently left behind some gloves which could be used to identify the suspect through d-n-a testing. ( james ) new this morning....the contra costa county sheriff's office is giving us a look at the moment a helicopter crew rescued a hiker near lafayette. crews received a report over the weekend of an elderly hiker injured on the acalanes trail. rescuers located the victim within minutes...and were able to evaluate the victim. they had to hoist the victim to the helicopter because of the steep terrain in the area. the victim was then taken to a hospital. no word on their condition this morning. ( james ) students at santa clara university honored the 50 people who were killed in the new zealand mosque shootings last friday. at least 50 others were wounded. the suspected gunman livestreamed 17 minutes of the massacre on facebook. has been described as a white nationalist who in a manefesto said he is an extrememist. yesterday, speakers at the

vigil in the southbay called the shootings heinous and premeditated. ( james ) the dozens of people who showed up at this event were all of different faiths and religions. ( will ) its been one year since police fatally shot stephon clark in sacramento and his family marked the anniversary by pushing for a new law. attorney benjamin crump and activist al sharpton joined the family on the steps of the state capitol monday... the group called on state lawmakers to pass assembly bill -3-92, which allows police to use deadly force only when absolutely necessary. they're also urging for legislation requiring evidence from officer-involved shootings to

( will ) officers shot the unarmed 22-year old - after mistaking his cell phone for a gun. ( will ) deputies in butte county are looking for a person who appeared to be holding a rifle while walking near an elementary school. school staff at berry creek elementary contacted police. they showed them surveillance video from sunday. on it --- you can see someone armed with what looks like a small caliber rifle or pellet gun. the

person spent about 15 minutes at the school. deputies responded to the school...but the person was not found. ( james ) in the south bay... police in los altos are warning people to be on the lookout for a driveway repair scam. they say the scammers are targeting elderly residents-- offering to repair driveways. they will give victims a verbal estimate-- without a contract. the work is then done with low grade materials to complete a sub par job. the scammers then demand a cash-only payment that is significantly larger than the original estimate. police are now warning residents to be aware of these types of workers going door-to-door. ( james ) vice president mike pence travels to nebraska today to get a first-hand view of the dangerous and deadly flooding. the there says this could be the worst flooding nebraska has ever seen. the flooding is blamed for at least three deaths. the nebraska emergency management agency says this flood has already cost the state more than 205- million dollars.

( james ) highway 17 has been living up to its reputation so far this year when it comes to crashes....( will ) bad weather, excessive speed and distracted driving are mostly to blame for a dramatic spike in accidents. kron four's rob fladeboe has the story. looking back on the wet, wintry months of january and february there were no fewer than 228 crashes on highway 17 between los gatos and scotts valley. that's the most in a decade and triple the rate on other state roads wth similar traffic patterns according to the group "safe on 17." several people were injured and three people died, which is often the number of

fatalities in an entire year. bad weather and slick pavement may be to blame for many of the crashes but too often, accidents are caused when drivers are simply going too fast for conditions says the chp's julieta trenado.juileta trenado/chp "...upon further investigation most o these accidents are due to people speeding and following too closely so we do encourage people to reduce speed especially on the downhill grades..."most of the crashes are occurring on the downhill curves within a mile of the summit in either direction. the chp has stepped enforcement in recent years and caltrans has added extra signs, new turn lanes, wider shoulders skid resistant pavement and other safety measures. another problem is distracted drivingaccording to some of the 63,000 people who drive highway 17 on any given day.

( james ) in the east bay -- elected officials and religious leaders are launching a program for homeless people who live in their cars in oakland. the program will open overnight safe parking lots. each site will feature an on-site security guard, portable toilets, hand-washing stations, drinking water, and security cameras. alameda county supervisor wilma chan spoke with us about the program. 27-hundred tons of debris have been collected in the lower russian river area around guerneville. ( will ) clean up efforts are still underway following those devastating floods.. kron 4's noelle bellow checked in

on recovery efforts. -- pkg--it's alot of work.. it's a lot of work. mud caked to the ground of the river theater in downtown guernville has owner jerry knight scrubbing everydayit's been the worst in a lot of years.. there's a lot of people that had it harderthan me though. without flood insurance, jerry is tasked with clean up all on his own..from pinesol to vacuuming to bleach. in an effort to help things along -- sonoma county officials did extend their clean up aid to for the remainder of the week. there were fish swimming in here -- you can still see the waterline mark on the window of the dance floor. dance floor except i thought river its septic tanks its sewage dischargestandup: it's not just the homes and business that are in need of
